As a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation, Soroptimist depends on membership fees, contributions and fundraising to fulfill its mission.

Soroptimists request proposals and nominations from the community for our awards and grants programs.

Our Leadership

Soroptimist International of Davis is governed by a Board of Directors and a slate of officers. Committees have responsibility for specific aspects of club activities.

History

The first Soroptimist club was formed in 1921 by a group of 80 women in Oakland, Alameda County, California. The name Soroptimist is a coined name meaning "best for women."
History of the Davis Clubs

Meetings

We convene Wednesdays at noon for lunch at Wildhorse Golf Club, 2323 Rockwell Drive, Davis. From September thru June we meet weekly. In July and August, we only meet the second Wednesday.

5th Wednesday: Make up
Our Affiliations are Local, Regional, and International

Venture Club of Davis is an affiliated service club for young women.

Soroptomist International of Greater Davis meets separately in Davis and joins us for regional events.

Davis clubs are part of the Sierra Nevada Region of the Soroptimist International of the Americas, which has 45,000 members.
